Laurie Zimbelman, is currently the Area Director of Mid Nebraska Individual Services in
Grand Island. She began my career working with developmentally disabled individuals in August of
1984. She was hired by the Broken Bow program to work in their group home. I quickly found that
serving those with a disability was my calling and felt truly blessed to work with so many wonderful
families and beautiful people over the years. She is passionate about helping those that we serve
to have the best quality of life possible. Throughout my career with MNIS she has held numerous
positions working with a variety of people with special needs in every aspect of their lives.
I have worked with Voc. Rehab., the school system, Service Coordination etc. She has been a member
of the ARC for several years in the past. Outside of work, she is involved in church. She has been a Sunday school teacher, lead youth group, gone on mission trips and most recently work in the nursery. She is been married to Dennis for 23 years and together we have 6 grown children and many grandchildren. She loves spending time with them especially at their lake house at Sherman.
